5 Things You Can Do To Improve Your Ice Hockey Game
By Johnny McKenzie, Thu Dec 8th

Are you an ice hockey playing teenager that dreams about one daymaking it all the way to the National Hockey League? Do you wantto become the next superstar in ice hockey?

My guess is that your answer is yes to both of the abovequestions (at least if you are an ice hockey playing teenager).

Now it is time for the next questions.

Do you currently feel that you are on the right track for asuccessful NHL career? Are you doing all the right things inorder to become a world class athlete?

Actually I am no longer so sure that your answer is yes to thesequestions as I was on the first ones.

But do not worry, just keep reading and I will give you a fewbasic pointers to help you a little along the way.

I never made it to the NHL myself and I whish now that I knewback then what I know now. Maybe I wouldn’t have made it all theway, but I most likely would have come closer.

Here are five pointers that every young ice hockey player shouldbe implementing:

1. Always be careful with what you eat.

Stick with low fat food and lots of pasta. This will help yourengine run for sixty minutes.

2. Get a good night sleep every night.

This will help you body recover from practice and games.

3. Stay away from alcohol and other drug.

You already knew this one, I know. It was merely a reminder.

4. Focus every time you are out in the ice.

Tomorrow is new day. Make sure you make the most out of today’spractice or game. If you do not catch the moment now you willsoon be too old to play the game of ice hockey.

5. Improve your mental strength.

Many wise men say that any sport is ninety percent mental andten percent physics. I do not know if this is true, but why takeany chances. There are many good books to read on the subject.

Ice hockey is a complicated game and I will not promise yousuccess, but you will be heading the correct path when youimplement the above five steps.

Make every day and every shift count out on the ice. There willbe rewards.

The Best Time In A Young Ice Hockey Player’s Life
By Johnny McKenzie, Thu Dec 8th

You play a game that you love, dream about the NHL and you areyoung enough to have the world in your hands.

At this time in life you are truly free and you are in fullcontrol of your destiny.

A good advice for every young ice hockey player that currentlyis in this situation should be to always make the best out ofevery situation. Whether it is on the rink or in life outsidehockey, catch every moment when it arises and make the best ofit every day.

You owe this to yourself.

When you are young and on your way up in the hockey system, always make sure that you outline your goals. You should takesome time to give life some thoughts every now and then. Thinkabout both your hockey life and your non-hockey life.

A young hockey player, just like you might be right now, oftendo not think that there is anything else in life than hockey. When you grow older you will know that there is.

The point I am making here is to try helping you understand thatthere will be a life after hockey. This is true for you, for meand for everybody else.

Have you ever thought about how few young ice hockey playersthat actually make it to the big leagues and are able to make adecent living on the game of hockey?

At the young stage of your life you should always focus ahundred percent on your hockey, but you should also do somethinking and have a plan B. Just in case you do not make it tothe big leagues.

One thing that I really like is that the Canadian junior hockeysystem sometimes pays for college when you are done playingjunior hockey. Do some serious thinking when you are at thispoint in life if you haven’t done so already.

Do you have any doubts about making it to the NHL? Then acollege education might come in handy and you are still able toplay hockey and improve at the same time.
